What are binaural beats?
The Human Brain produces 4 types of brainwaves.
Beta is between 14-40Hz
Alpha is between 8-13Hz.
Theta is between 4-7Hz.
Delta is between 0.5-4Hz


How brain waves affect us:
All meditation techniques teach you to descend from beta to alpha-theta. In alpha the person is in a relaxed yet alert state of mind. Theta brainwaves are associated with sleeping and dreaming. Delta brainwaves are associated with dreamless sleep. When a person is wide awake and tense he is on the Beta wavelength.
 

The Walters Brainwave Entrainment Effect: Gary Walters, renowned scientist, found in the 1950s that when external audio waves had the same frequency as the human brainwaves, the brain produced more of the same brainwaves. Since the frequencies of 0.5 - 40 Hz are infrasonic; they are inaudible to the normal ear. However, if a tone is pulsed in the Left ear of 100Hz and 110Hz in the right ear, then the human brain becomes entrained to the difference in frequencies. In this case Alpha 10Hz is the phantom frequency.
 

Binaural Beats to Improve Mind Power: There are several commercial binaural beat software's like bwgen, sbagen, and the neuroprogrammer 2 that can be downloaded from the Internet for you to experience binaural beats. Monaurals: These beats are headphone free. They basically take the pink-white-brown noise as the carrier frequency and then modulate it to the Beta frequency. They are extremely effective because human brainwaves are non-sinusoidal and entrain very well with the monaural. If the monaural 7Hz is applied to a subject, she/he enters the super learning state.

Are any Frequencies harmful? Just as for an effect to really exist side-effects have to exist too, we have harmful frequencies like 16 Hz, and 11 Hz. These frequencies are documented to cause calcium ion migration in the brain. If you have a broken a leg, calcium ion flux to your broken bone is a good thing, but it is a bad thing when it happens in the brain because it leads to chronic fatigue syndrome observed by Takamura among Japanese adolescents who were using the cell phone too much.
 

How long should I use the Beats? If you have been regularly meditating for some years then 15mins to 30mins of the Beats is enough. If you are new to mind technology then you may need the beats as and when required. For example, before sitting for an exam, you might want to go into 'open-eye' Theta rhythm. So you may use the beats throughout the study session.
 

What are Subliminals? When a hypnotic voice command is put on tape/ cdrom, such that it is masked and cannot be consciously perceived, then the hypnotic language pattern directly enters into the subconscious mind and influences it. Such a recording is called a subliminal recording. These tapes/ cdroms can have binaural beats to entrain the brain also.
 

Some examples of subliminal voice commands… Unity Commands. e.g. "Super concentration and I are one." Directive Commands (through left ear to the right brain.) e.g. "I'm telling you to concentrate." Encouraging commands (through the right ear to the left brain) e.g. "You can easily concentrate." Query commands. e.g. "why can I super concentrate so powerfully?"
 

Using Subliminals: The command must always be posted in such a manner - as if the desired effect has already occurred. It must use presuppositions i.e. assumption that the desired result is true. It must avoid negatives. Instead of "I don't fail" you must insert "I can pass."
 

Can subliminals be used to brainwash a person against his will? No. The person's valid consent to change has to be there. The person must also know what he is being programmed for.
 

Masked subliminal: When the recording of the hypnotic language pattern is consistently 10db below the masking pattern of music or sounds of nature, then this is called as a masked subliminal. These tapes were popular in India in the mid-1990s.
 

Physically modulated subliminal: When the subliminal recording is such that the right and left headphones are 180 degrees out of phase with respect to each other, then the tape cancels itself out, leaving a slight hissing sound. And the subliminal messages can enter into the subconscious mind.
 

AM subliminal: When the amplitude of the sound waves is set to -70db, then the subliminal becomes inaudible to the ear but is audible to the unconscious mind.


Ultrasonic and Infrasonic subliminals: When the voice commands are frequency modulated to ultrasonic 14.5 KHz > or infrasonic 100Hz< then this subliminal is the most effective of all.
 

Silent sounds: Ultrasonic subliminals are called as silent sounds because they cannot be heard except by animals like dogs, bats and special radiofrequency electronics.

Past life regression (PLR) is a therapeutic technique that uses light to deep levels of trance to activate memories, or pseudo-memories that appear to represent past lives. The elements of the PLR experience

In one of the most well-known studies on Creative Visualization in sports, Russian scientists compared four groups of Olympic athletes in terms of their training schedules:

  • Group 1 = 100% physical training;

  • Group 2 - 75% physical training with 25% mental training;

  • Group 3 - 50% physical training with 50% mental training;

  • Group 4 - 25% physical training with 75% mental training.

Group 4, with 75% of their time devoted to mental training, performed the best. The Soviets had discovered that mental images can act as a prelude to muscular impulses."[10]

 

Creative Visualization is distinguished from normal daydreaming in that Creative Visualization is done in the first person and the present tense - as if the visualized scene were unfolding all around you; whereas normal daydreaming is done in the third person and the future tense - the "you" of the daydream is a puppet with the real "you" watching from afar. Visualization practices are a common form of spiritual exercise, especially in esoteric traditions. In Vajrayana Buddhism for example complex visualizations are used to attain Buddhahood. Additionally, visualization is used extensively in sports psychology.[11]

 

Creative Visualization and the Power of Thoughts

How does it work and why? Thought is a power and has its effect on the material world. Thoughts, if powerful enough, travel from one mind to another. If we keep thinking the same thought, people in our environment perceive it and act on it, furthering, usually in an unconscious manner, the materialization of our desires.
When I have to confront some unpleasant situation, I visualize myself handling the matter easily and comfortably. I see the involved people as cooperative and friendly. And you know what? They are pleasant, and they want to help without even being asked to. It is so because people are responsive to our thoughts, feelings and behavior and react accordingly.


If you are naturally positive, then the way you approach and handle situations is such that attracts positive results. On the other hand, if you are fearful and negative, then you expect negative results, and behave, look, and talk accordingly.


We are part of the Omnipotent Power that has created the universe; therefore we participate in the process of creation. Bearing this thought in mind, there is no wonder that thoughts materialize. Stop a moment and think. You are part of the great Universal Power! Whatever concentrated thought you entertain long enough in your mind tends to materialize.


Thought is energy. By having certain thoughts in our minds, and by concentrating on them and putting emotional energy into them, they become powerful. These thoughts induce some kind of pressure on the energy fields around us, causing them to move and act. The thoughts change the balance of energy around us and in a natural way bring changes in the environment in accordance with them.


There is another explanation why visualization brings results. It may come as a surprise to most, but the theory of "Maya" - Illusion, which comes from the eastern philosophies, provides the explanation.
According to the Indian philosophy "Advaita- Vedanta" which in the West is called "Non-duality", the world is just an illusion. Thoughts arise which "create" our world. We constantly think and rethink our habitual thoughts, thus creating and recreating the same kind of events or circumstances.


This process reinforces our thoughts, which help to preserve the same "world" we believe we live in. By changing the tape or film, that is by looking at a different scenario - different thoughts, we create a different "reality". For us it is a reality, though in fact it is just a dream we call "reality".


By changing our thoughts and mental pictures, we change our "reality"; we change the "illusory" world we believe we live in. We are not employing magic or supernatural powers when creating and changing our life and circumstances. It is not something "material" that we change; we only change our thoughts, which are the world.


It is like dreaming a very realistic dream and then switching to a different dream. We are not awakening, just changing the dream. Rest assured that you can employ the power of visualization, even if you do not accept what you have just read or it seems too complicated or far-fetched. Yet, understanding and accepting the above, at least in theory, will help you achieve results faster.

See yourself in your imagination living in the apartment of your dreams. It does not matter if you haven't enough money. Just imagine yourself living in your "new" apartment and see it as a reality. The opportunity or way will present itself. The power of thoughts will work for you too.


Many books and articles have been written on the subject, and each new book or article opens to the reader a new viewpoint. Each book may mention something that the other did not. In order to understand the subject fully, it is advisable to read several books.


Overcoming Limited Thinking
Creative visualization can do great things, but for every person there are some areas, which he may find hard to change, at least in the immediate future. This is a great power, but there are some limits to using it. These limits are within us, not in the power.


We limit ourselves by our thoughts and beliefs. The wider we can look at the world and ourselves, the greater are our possibilities. Any limits are within our minds, and it is up to us to rise above them.


It may take some time until things start to change. Simple, small demonstrations of this power may come fast, but bigger results may need a longer time to manifest.

MYTHS REGARDING HYPNOSIS

Movies, books and even stage hypnotists have added to the confusion of what hypnosis really is. It is not a process where you have no control or don't remember anything (as explained further on). You won't be unconscious and neither will you feel totally disorientated or dizzy - but you will feel a profound state of relaxation, peace and even bliss.

 

WHAT IS HYPNOSIS ?
The basic definition of Hypnosis is an altered state of awareness.


You don't have to learn anything new. All that's required is for you to just relax both mentally and physically. It's a wonderful opportunity to just relax in our very comfortable lounge. It's just like being in a relaxed and drowsy state where you feel warm, secure and comfortable. It could even be described as a very pleasant daydream.


HOW DOES HYPNOSIS WORK?
Hypnosis works by bringing a subject into a peculiar state of consciousness with reduced peripheral awareness accompanied by strictly focused attention. James Braid coined the word hypnosis, meaning "nervous sleep," from the Greek word hypnos, which means sleep. In actuality, hypnosis is not sleep. Clinically speaking, hypnosis differs from sleep in the level of alpha brain waves. Alpha brain waves are measured low during sleep, but high during hypnosis. In addition, a hypnotized person can hear; the sleeping person cannot.

 

Modern views of hypnosis indicate that persons are born with a certain level of "hypnotizability." This ability or ease in entering what is known as the "trance" state, cannot be enhanced or increased. A person is a "good subject," having a higher level of hypnotizability, or a "poor subject," having a low or no ability to enter the trance. A clinician may induce a patient to enter the "trance state;" he or she will then train the subject to be able to enter this state of consciousness on their own.

 

Hypnosis should not be confused with sleep, meditation or relaxation, though it may appear to mimic these other states of consciousness. Meditation emphasizes an inward focus, within oneself; hypnosis works by having the subject focus on something outside of oneself. Subjects who are hypnotizable score high in imaginative activities. And contrary to common perception, the "best subjects" are those who are highly independent, intelligent and creative, not those who are malleable and submissive.

 

Hypnosis is best described by what happens to the subject during this trance state, whether self-induced or other-imposed. The hypnotized individual, while existing in a particular place in time, must be able to project herself to "another place" in time. This does not mean entering the future or past, though common beliefs about hypnosis assert that this is possible. The "other place" is simply a focus other than the present situation; the present situation and the entire surrounding environment is exchanged for sharply directed attention in or on a particular place or thing. The subject may be "outside" of himself but is still in total control. The "self" is still monitoring the proceedings, making sure that nothing untoward is happening while he or she is in the trance state.

 

YOU ARE ALWAYS IN CONTROL
Contrary to some novels, films and stage hypnosis shows, you always maintain control in a clinical hypnotherapy session. You will be aware at all times of anything that is said and done. Nobody has the power to make you do anything against your will or beliefs. You won't disclose anything you don't want to.


CAN YOU BE HYPNOTISED? HYPNOTISED?
Yes - but only if you want to be.
There are very few exceptions, for example, young children, people with Dementia or mental disorders are difficult to hypnotize.
